Dr. Gerald Becker was born in New Britain, Connecticut. He attended local schools and then graduated from Yale University with a B.S. degree in Biophysics and Biochemistry. He completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Connecticut and a Spinal Surgery fellowship at the University of Kansas. Dr. Becker then returned to Connecticut and has practiced Orthopedic and Spinal Surgery with Orthopedic Associates of Hartford for the past 25 years.
Dr. Becker specializes in the treatment of degenerative conditions and injuries of the cervical and lumbar spine. Treatment of these conditions ranges from conservative strengthening programs to decompression or stabilization surgery.
Dr. Becker is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member of the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has been a State Police Surgeon since 2003. He is a member of the State of Connecticut Worker’s Compensation Physician Advisory Board. Dr. Becker has been cited in the Best Doctors in America publication since 1998 and serves as a Medical Expert Consultant for that organization.
Dr. Becker and his wife are both from Connecticut and have a son who is attending local schools. Dr. Becker’s outside interests include golf, martial arts, and ballroom dance.

If you agree, prior to your visit, we will send you a link via email that will allow you to complete your medical history at any time, at your convenience. Your encrypted medical history will then be transmitted to your physician electronically. If you complete your history prior to your scheduled visit, then we would ask that you arrive just 5-10 minutes early so that our staff can complete and verify your registration information. If you would prefer to complete your medical history in our offices prior to your scheduled visit, then plan on arriving 20-30 minutes before your scheduled visit to complete the medical history and registration process. We strive to be on time and to provide effective care to our patients. Having all of your “paperwork” out of the way before you scheduled appointment helps make that a reality.
