Dr. Jeffrey K. Burns is a native of Connecticut. He earned an undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University and obtained his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine. After finishing his residency training in Orthopedic surgery at the University of Connecticut, Dr. Burns completed a subspecialty fellowship in adult hip and knee replacement at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
Dr. Burns is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and one of the only orthopedic surgeons in the region who performs patellofemoral arthroplasties. In this minimally invasive procedure, only the anterior portion of the knee is replaced, allowing for quicker rehabilitation and a more natural feeling knee joint. His other areas of interest include arthroscopic knee surgery, hip replacement, knee replacement, partial knee replacement, orthopedic trauma surgery, and revision hip and knee replacement.
In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Burns is also the Director of Clinical Services at Hartford Hospital’s Joint Center. In this role he is responsible for the integration of all aspects of the joint center, ensuring quality outcomes, program development, and the running of daily operations.
Dr. Burns is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Connecticut State Medical Society, the Connecticut Orthopedic Society and the Hartford County Medical Association. He lives in the greater Hartford area with his wife and three young children.

If you agree, prior to your visit, we will send you a link via email that will allow you to complete your medical history at any time, at your convenience. Your encrypted medical history will then be transmitted to your physician electronically. If you complete your history prior to your scheduled visit, then we would ask that you arrive just 5-10 minutes early so that our staff can complete and verify your registration information. If you would prefer to complete your medical history in our offices prior to your scheduled visit, then plan on arriving 20-30 minutes before your scheduled visit to complete the medical history and registration process. We strive to be on time and to provide effective care to our patients. Having all of your “paperwork” out of the way before you scheduled appointment helps make that a reality.
