Additional Information

Upon deciding to pursue a career in medicine, he enrolled at Columbia University and completed all of his pre-medical studies with distinction. Thereafter, he attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, and his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation and University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. While there, he was appointed Chief Resident, and was voted Resident Teacher of the Year by the medical students he instructed. In addition, he served as a resident Delegate to the American Medical Association and published several original articles and book chapters on conservative spine care.

Dr. Memmo then completed his Fellowship training in Spine and Sports Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. While there, he was on the medical team for numerous New York City professional sporting teams, in addition to completing intensive training in advanced, minimally invasive spinal procedures.

Dr. Memmo is an Interventional Physiatrist, one of the few in the State of Connecticut who is Board Certified both in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Management. He joined Orthopedic Associates of Hartford in 2003, is a Partner and Assistant Director of the Orthopedic Associates Surgical Center. He is also an Associate Clinical Professor in the department of Orthopedics at the University Connecticut School of Medicine.

The focus of his practice is to diagnose and treat painful spinal conditions in a conservative, non-operative fashion, with minimal utilization of narcotics. Dr. Memmo performs the most advanced, fluoroscopically guided, minimally invasive spinal procedures at the Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center.

Medical History
To ensure that you have the safest and most effective medical care possible, it is important that you provide a complete medical history to your physician. If you agree, prior to your visit, we will send you a link via email that will allow you to complete your medical history at any time, at your convenience. Your encrypted medical history will then be transmitted to your physician electronically. If you complete your history prior to your scheduled visit, then we would ask that you arrive just 5-10 minutes early so that our staff can complete and verify your registration information. If you would prefer to complete your medical history in our offices prior to your scheduled visit, then plan on arriving 20-30 minutes before your scheduled visit to complete the medical history and registration process. We strive to be on time and to provide effective care to our patients. Having all of your “paperwork” out of the way before you scheduled appointment helps make that a reality.
