Dr. Fulkerson’s practice is limited to arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery (meniscus, ligament, and rotator cuff tears) as well as patellofemoral joint preservation and stabilization surgery. His office is in Farmington and his surgery is at Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center in Rocky Hill.

Dr. John Fulkerson was head team physician for Connecticut's only major league team, the NHL Hartford Whalers, until they left Connecticut in 1997 and also served as team physician for U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey (Team USA) and Trinity College (Hartford) football and ice hockey. He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the San Francisco Bay Area Knee Society and is past president of the Greater Hartford Orthopedic Education and Research Foundation, the Litchfield Land Trust, and the Herodicus Society. A Master Instructor of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), he served on the board and executive committee of AANA for 6 years. In 1994, Dr Fulkerson founded the International Patellofemoral Study Group (with Jean Yves Dupont) and in 2003, founded the Patellofemoral Foundation (www.patellofemoral.org). He is Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at University of Connecticut School of Medicine and has done over 12,000 arthroscopic knee and shoulder procedures. His primary focus is accurate, minimally invasive, and technically precise non operative, arthroscopic and patellofemoral surgery.

In 2011, Dr Fulkerson was recognized as one of the top 1% orthopedic surgeons in the USA by US News and World Report.

To ensure that you have the safest and most effective medical care possible, it is important that you provide a complete medical history to your physician. If you agree, prior to your visit, we will send you a link via email that will allow you to complete your medical history at any time, at your convenience. Your encrypted medical history will then be transmitted to your physician electronically. If you complete your history prior to your scheduled visit, then we would ask that you arrive just 5-10 minutes early so that our staff can complete and verify your registration information. If you would prefer to complete your medical history in our offices prior to your scheduled visit, then plan on arriving 20-30 minutes before your scheduled visit to complete the medical history and registration process. We strive to be on time and to provide effective care to our patients. Having all of your “paperwork” out of the way before you scheduled appointment helps make that a reality.
