Dr. Courtland Lewis completed his general surgery internship and his Orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Maryland Hospital where he served as chief resident in 1984. He was a fellow in adult reconstruction and arthritis surgery at Johns Hopkins University, completing his training in 1985.
Dr. Lewis was on the full time faculty of the UConn School of Medicine for fifteen years, and was promoted to the rank of Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery. He was the director of the UConn Orthopedic Residency Program for many years. He is currently Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery on the volunteer faculty of the School of Medicine.
Dr. Lewis is on the Board of Directors of the Hartford County Medical Association and is a Past President of the organization. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut State Medical Society and chairs the Society’s Legislative Committee. He is a delegate to the American Medical Association, representing the American Association of Hip & Knee Surgeons. He serves on the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC)
Dr. Lewis has three grown children and lives in Farmington with his wife, Barbara.
