Biography

Dr. Ross Benthien specializes in the treatment of foot and ankle conditions in adults and adolescents. This includes sports related injuries to the foot and ankle, as well degenerative conditions such as ankle arthritis and chronic tendon tears. He has a special interest in traumatic injuries of the lower extremities, including complex fractures of the foot and ankle.

Dr. Benthien completed two fellowships in adult foot and ankle surgery after orthopedic residency training at the University of Connecticut. He graduated with honors from the George Washington University School of Medicine where he also earned a Master’s degree in Public Health. Dr. Benthien serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Connecticut where he participates in the training of orthopedic residents and medical students. He currently serves as the medical director of the Bone and Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital.

Dr. Benthien is on staff at Hartford Hospital, the Orthopedic Associates Surgical Center in Rocky Hill, and the Glastonbury Surgical Center. He is board certified and is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society.

Dr. Benthien was born and raised in Washington State and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Business Administration. He spends his free time traveling and hiking with his spouse and four children. He enjoys distance running and has competed in a number of races locally and nationally.
