Biography

Dr. Evan Dugdale is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in primary and revision hip and knee replacement. He is committed to helping patients return to active, fulfilling lives and provides comprehensive support throughout their entire orthopedic journey – whether through surgical intervention or non-operative care.

Dr. Dugdale emphasizes clear and collaborative communication, ensuring that each patient fully understands their condition and treatment options. His goal is to partner with patients to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to their specific needs and lifestyle.

A native of Glastonbury, Connecticut, Dr. Dugdale is proud to have returned to central Connecticut to care for the community he calls home. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Williams College, where he also served as assistant captain of the ice hockey team. He went on to earn his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine.

Dr. Dugdale completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, training with world-renowned leaders in the field. He was honored by his peers with the Joseph Janes Award, recognizing the graduating resident who best exemplifies compassion for patients, surgical skill, and dedication to orthopedic surgery.

Following residency, Dr. Dugdale completed an advanced hip and knee replacement fellowship at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he gained specialized expertise in both primary and complex revision joint procedures.

He offers a wide range of modern surgical techniques, including:
• Direct anterior and posterior hip replacement
• Partial and total knee replacement
• Robotic-assisted knee replacement
• Rapid recovery and outpatient joint replacement protocols
• Complex revision hip and knee replacement

These procedures are used to treat conditions such as arthritis, hip dysplasia, avascular necrosis, failed prior joint replacements, and periprosthetic fractures.

Dr. Dugdale is also actively involved in clinical research aimed at advancing the field of joint replacement surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at national conferences across the country. His research interests include complex revision surgery, periprosthetic joint infection, and periprosthetic fracture management.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Dugdale enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and Labrador retriever. He also enjoys playing hockey, fly fishing, golfing, and cooking.
