Orthopedic Associates of Hartford Welcomes Two New Physicians

We are pleased to welcome two new physicians to our medical staff, Cameron Kia, MD, Orthopedic Spine Specialist, and Jeffrey Olson, MD, Shoulder and Elbow Specialist.
Cameron Kia, MD is an orthopedic spine surgeon who specializes in both operative and non-operative spinal disorders. He has clinical expertise in both complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, including disc replacement and motion preservation of the spine. He is implementing cutting-edge technology including augmented reality, endoscopic, minimally invasive tubular surgery, and robotic techniques.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of OAH and to be able to offer patients new treatments in minimally invasive and motion preservation surgery,” said Cameron Kia, MD. “I’m also honored to be a part of a respected orthopedic group with an established reputation, and to have partners that are also utilizing innovative technology in our practice.”
Dr. Kia was born and raised in New England, graduating as a University Scholar from the University of Connecticut. He continued his training here, completing his medical school and orthopedic surgery at the University of Connecticut. While at UConn, he was chosen as a Neag Research Fellow, publishing over 50 peer-reviewed papers and was awarded multiple grants in basic science and clinical research. Following residency, he completed his spine fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, training under pioneers of minimally invasive spine surgery in addition to performing complex adult and pediatric deformity.
At the completion of his residency, Dr. Kia was presented with the Cavazos Award for Most Outstanding Resident. The following year he was awarded the Golden Apple Fellow of the Year at Rush University, given to only one fellow between all specialties. Dr. Kia is seeing patients in the Enfield, Hartford, Plainville and Rocky Hill locations.
Jeffrey Olson, MD is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex reconstructive and arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery. His clinical interests include primary and revision shoulder replacement, rotator cuff disease, shoulder instability, scapulothoracic disorders & tendon transfers, fractures, and sports-related conditions and procedures such as Tommy John surgery.
“As a shoulder and elbow specialist, I treat all conditions of the shoulder and elbow from arthritis and rotator cuff tears to fractures and sports-related injuries. I have a specific interest in shoulder replacement surgery for arthritis and I use cutting-edge technology such as 3D preoperative planning software to better visualize the patient’s surgical anatomy and pathology before surgery and to execute complex surgery at a high level using patient-specific implants,” said Jeffrey Olson, MD.

Dr. Olson grew up in Massachusetts where he attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and graduated cum laude with a degree in Biology. He earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society. Following graduation, he completed his orthopedic surgery training at the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program, where he was elected administrative chief resident in his final year. Following residency, he went on to complete a one-year fellowship specializing in Shoulder and Elbow Reconstructive Surgery at the Washington University in St. Louis, MO.Dr. Olson is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, and the Orthopedic Trauma Association. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and has presented his work at national orthopedic meetings. He reviews manuscripts for publication in the journals Arthroscopy and the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. Dr. Olson is seeing patients in the Enfield, Hartford, Manchester, Plainville and Rocky Hill locations.
