Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center Earns Top National Award for Outstanding Quality of Care
HARTFORD, Conn., December 5, 2023 Orthopedic Associates of Hartford (OAH), one of Connecticut’s largest and most respected orthopedic specialty groups, is pleased to announce that Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, was named a Leapfrog Top Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in 2023, one of only 27 selected nationally for the competitive award.
Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center was one of only two facilities in Connecticut to be honored with a Top ASC award and stands as the sole orthopedic center in the state to achieve this recognition.
The highly competitive award honors an elite selection of ASCs across the country for their commitment to patient safety and quality, including error prevention, safe staffing, patient experience, hand hygiene, and surgical checklist protocols.
“We are immensely proud of our team for their hard work and commitment to consistently upholding the highest safety standards and delivering an exceptional patient experience focused on quality care, safety and transparency,” said Dr. Andrew Caputo, President and Assistant Medical Director of the Orthopedic Associates Surgical Center. “Being recognized as one of the top ASCs in the nation further substantiates our commitment to superior patient care.”
The award is presented by The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization of employers and other purchasers widely acknowledged as the toughest standard-setters for healthcare safety and quality. The Leapfrog Top ASC Award, now in its third year, is modeled after the prestigious Leapfrog Top Hospital award that has been in existence since 2006.
The 45,000-square-foot facility opened in January 2019 and is located at 150 Enterprise Drive in Rocky Hill. The facility is free-standing and is not attached to a hospital, is physician-owned, and includes seven operating rooms and one procedure room. The operating rooms are over 600 square feet to accommodate the latest technology and robotic systems while providing surgeons with room to comfortably operate.
In addition, there is a full-service physical therapy center where physical therapists immediately start physical therapy in the post-operative surgical area so that patients can go home the same day. OAH’s comprehensive care of orthopedic specialties emphasizes total joint replacement together with physiatry, sports medicine, foot and ankle, and hand surgery.
“The primary focus of the Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center is providing the highest-quality outpatient orthopedic care in our community and beyond,” added Dr. Caputo. “We are committed to optimizing patient care through creating and maintaining an institution where patients want to come back, nurses and staff want to work, and doctors want to provide the very best care for our patients.”
