Donald A. Allen, MD
Biography
Dr. Donald Allen is a board certified, fellowship-trained joint reconstruction surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement. He has specialized training and experience in the direct anterior approach for hip replacement. Dr. Allen makes every effort to personalize treatment for each patient and to offer compassionate patient-centered care. “I strongly believe in involving my patients with each clinical decision and coming up with a plan together to best improve their function and quality of life.”
Dr. Allen is a Connecticut native. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Delaware where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He completed medical school at the University of Connecticut. After graduation, he remained in Connecticut to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Connecticut. He obtained further sub-specialty training in joint reconstruction at the Carilion Clinic under the direction of Dr. Joseph Moskal. His fellowship training was focused on complex hip and knee replacement with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques and protocols for earlier patient recovery.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
