Biography

Dr. Jeffrey K. Burns is a native of Connecticut.  He earned an undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University and obtained his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine.  After finishing his residency training in Orthopedic surgery at the University of Connecticut, Dr. Burns completed a subspecialty fellowship in adult hip and knee replacement at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr. Burns is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and one of the only orthopedic surgeons in the region who performs patellofemoral arthroplasties.  In this minimally invasive procedure, only the anterior portion of the knee is replaced, allowing for quicker rehabilitation and a more natural feeling knee joint. 

In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Burns is also the Director of Clinical Services at Hartford Hospital’s Joint Center.  In this role he is responsible for the integration of all aspects of the joint center, ensuring quality outcomes, program development and the running of daily operations.

Dr. Burns is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Connecticut State Medical Society, the Connecticut Orthopedic Society and the Hartford County Medical Association.  He lives in the Greater Hartford area with his wife and three young children.
