Medical Collector

Established in 1970, Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, P.C., is one of the area’s largest orthopedic practices with office locations throughout Greater Hartford. Our growing practice is currently seeking a Medical Collector to join our Billing & Collections team in our Farmington business office.

The successful candidate will be a team player who is dependable, organized, enthusiastic, and detail oriented. Important to this position is the ability to build relationships with our customers, both internal and external, to promote feedback and timely resolution of outstanding claims.

Proficiency in many computer software programs is required, as well as an understanding of insurance payment methodologies to insure accurate reimbursement. A positive “can-do” attitude is a must.

Responsibilities include:

  • Follows policies and procedures, timely and accurately follows-up on claims for the resolution of outstanding balances.
  • Participates in the collection and documentation of claims processing rules.
  • Generates both electronic and hard copy claims for submission.
  • Obtains supporting documentation and other information required to insure acceptance of claim.
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with interdepartmental units when necessary.
  • Documents pertinent account information pertaining to claims submission and resolution.
  • Enters demographic data into the billing & collections software.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications include:

  • Two years recent experience in medical collections and/or medical billing with result oriented debt collections skills.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 coding and Federal HIPAA regulations.
  • Computer skills, including GE Centricity, electronic billing, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional and courteous telephone manner.
  • High School diploma.

Medical Executive Assistant

Our busy Orthopedic practice is seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic candidate to work with our Orthopedic Surgeons as a Medical Executive Assistant. Responsibilities may include heavy phone work, pre-certification, scheduling patients & surgeries, triage, filing, and initial registration & billing functions, all in support of a physician’s team. Requirements include 3+ years of recent and relevant experience within a private practice or hospital. The successful candidate will be highly reliable, a proactive self starter and team player with superior communication & customer service skills. Flexibility is essential to this position; reliable transportation for travel to various sites is a must.

Physician Assistant/APRN

Orthopedic Associates of Hartford is a large Orthopedic Medical Practice offering career opportunities in support of high quality patent care. We offer a very competitive salary and benefits package to our valued patient care providers.

We currently have an opportunity for a Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Working closely with an Orthopedic Surgeon, this PA or APRN will provide a broad spectrum of general patient care. These duties include, but are not limited to, medical evaluation and treatment, removal of stitches, application of casts, ordering and analyzing tests, writing orders, patient rounds, and patient education. The PA or APRN will also assist in the operating room for inpatient and outpatient surgeries.

The successful candidate must be a graduate of a recognized program, certified as a PA or APRN, and have at least 1 year of experience in Orthopedics. Must have knowledge of interpretation of x-ray views, as well as excellent communication and follow up skills.

Physician Assistant: Surgical

Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, PC (OAH) is one of Connecticut’s largest and most respected orthopedic specialty groups. As a total orthopedic care center, our physicians specialize in orthopedic surgery, dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the bones, muscles, tendons, nerves, and ligaments in adults and children.

To complement procedures performed in a hospital setting, OAH also operates in four state-of-the-art surgical centers that provide the highest level of surgical care on an outpatient basis. As more and more procedures continue to allow for better outcomes in an outpatient setting, we are currently seeking a full-time Physician Assistant (PA) to join our outstanding team and assist with surgical procedures.  This PA will work within OAH’s jointly owned surgery centers in the Greater Hartford area. This PA will assist surgeons in a variety of Orthopedic specialty surgeries, allowing for maximum efficiency in the OR, while assuring the highest standards of patient care.


  • Must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
  • Must have an active Connecticut PA-C license
  • Minimum 1 year of Orthopedic experience
  • Ability to work with multiple physicians and advanced practitioners
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
