Biography

Dr. Patrick Garvin is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee. His clinical focus includes knee arthroscopic reconstruction and joint preservation, such as ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair, cartilage repair and restoration, and osteotomy. He also performs advanced arthroscopic and open shoulder reconstruction, including rotator cuff repair, labral repair, shoulder stabilization, and shoulder replacement surgery. In addition, he has expertise in hip arthroscopy and the management of femoroacetabular impingement and labral tears, utilizing the most cutting-edge and minimally invasive techniques.

Born and raised in Northern California, Dr. Garvin earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego. He received his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Connecticut and a Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery fellowship at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Garvin has extensive experience caring for athletes at all levels and has served as assistant team physician for the NBA Denver Nuggets, NHL Colorado Avalanche, MLS Colorado Rapids, NLL Colorado Mammoth, and University of Colorado Division I Athletics. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and is affiliated with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He also serves as a reviewer for the journal Arthroscopy. Outside of medicine, Dr. Garvin lives in West Hartford with his wife and daughter and enjoys spending time with family, hiking, weightlifting, and exploring all that New England has to offer.
