Our physical and occupational therapists are highly trained and have skills that are specialized to orthopedics. Many have additional certifications specific to orthopedics including:

  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT)
  • Certified Lymphedema Specialist
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
  • McKenzie Certification (MDT)
  • Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS)
  • Pilates based rehabilitation
  • Certified Mulligan Practitioner (CMP)

Our physicians and medical team communicate closely with the therapists at all locations to ensure a well-coordinated and safe rehabilitation program for efficient patient recovery.

Our physicians, advanced practitioners, and physical therapists have also put together a wide variety of information to guide you on exercises that can be done at home to alleviate pain, strengthen core areas, or keep you active.

What To Expect

A therapist or patient service representative will check you in and collect any required co-payment. At your first visit, please arrive 15 minutes early to register.  Make sure to bring:

  • Orthopedic Associates doctor’s prescription
  • Insurance card(s)
  • Photo identification (license, passport, etc.)
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes

Your therapist will perform an evaluation consisting of a detailed history of your condition and a physical examination. When complete, your therapist will develop a treatment plan for you. As you finish your time in therapy, you and your therapist will go over a home exercise plan to help you continue to improve at home.

Before you leave, make sure to schedule your follow up appointment(s). Please make your appointments for the next 3-4 weeks, and continue to do so until you and your therapist discuss a likely date when you’ll finish your therapy.

Duration of Therapy

Although each program is different, the majority of our patients are seen for an average of 9 to 11 visits. Your therapist will be in contact with your orthopedist to report on your progress and discuss modifications of treatment according to your individual needs.

You will be provided graphs to show what you can expect for an outcome if you come to therapy and complete your program. We encourage you to participate in our outcomes reporting as this information helps us to continually evaluate and improve our service.

Physical Therapy Exercises

We are committed to helping people stay active and as pain-free as possible.  Our physicians, advanced practitioners, and physical therapists have put together a wide variety of information to guide you on exercises that can be done at home to alleviate pain, strengthen core areas, or keep you active. Insurance

We participate with many insurance providers and we will confirm that we participate with your insurance plan. While we will be happy to check on your benefits, we always recommend that you verify your coverage, as you are ultimately responsible for payment (call the Member Services number on your card if you have questions). Please be sure to let us know immediately when there are any changes to your policy in order to avoid unexpected charges to your account. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
